That tan! Meryl Streep parodied Donald Trump at the Shakespeare in the Park Public Theater Gala in NYC on Monday, June 6, and her outfit was everything!
The Oscar-winning actress, 66, wore excessive orange bronzer on her face and styled her hair in the Republican presidential nominee’s trademark messy combover. She even donned padding under her jacket and added a way-too-long red tie.
Streep took the stage with her Mamma Mia! costar Christine Baranski, who was dressed as Hillary Clinton, to perform “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” from the musical Kiss Me, Kate. The duet is usually sung by two gangsters, and the lyrics are all about impressing ladies by reciting lines from the great English poet and playwright. Streep even added a line of her own: “You’ll let me know, why it is all the women say no,” implying that women won’t vote for Trump.
The performance took place the same night that the Associated Press reported that Clinton, who Streep has vocally supported throughout the election, clinched the Democratic presidential nomination and became the first woman in U.S. history to secure the presidential nomination of a major political party.
